Pondicherry government to set up Board of Secondary Education

The Pondicherry administration is taking steps to set up its own Board of Secondary Education.

The administration has decided to introduce a uniform pattern of education from the first to sixth standards as in neighboring Tamil Nadu, from the next academic year. That would be followed only in Pondicherry and Karaikal regions of the union territory. And the Mahe and Yanam regions will follow the pattern of Kerala and Andhra Pradesh Boards, respectively.

Eiffel tower replica in Yanam

The government of Pondicherry is planning to turn around the Eyes of the tourists by constructing a replica of Eiffel Tower (One of the World’s Wonder) in Yanam.

It is roughly estimated as, It will be around 100 metres tall and 14 acre-site at Guriampet overlooking the Bay of Bengal which is yet to built by Nagarjuna Construction Company.

Reliance Industries Limited and Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation had stepped forward to contribute by funding 5 crore (GSPC) to 27 crore (RIL)

Highlight of the Tower: Circular restaurant and Panoramic view

It is stated that, the tower will have a circular-shaped restaurant. The tower will also provide a panoramic view of the Bay of Bengal but entry will be restricted to the restaurant (at a height of about 40 metres) for safety reasons.
The tower will have rich landscaping around it for tourists to enjoy their visit.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010.

Flower Show at Botanical garden

Fabulous Flower Show held in Pondicherry from 25-03-10 to 28-03-10. Mr. IQBAL SINGH, Governor of Pondicherry, inaugurated the function.

The flower show was fabulous, It engaged more than 1500 people in Botanical Garden. Varieties of Flowers and Saplings were there. Many of the children enjoyed seeing all kinds of Flowers and had a great time.
