Pondicherry University tries for world ranking

The Pondicherry University is attempting to enter the world ranking of Universities through a popular ranking mechanism, Vice Chancellor J A K Tareen told newsmen. He said that based on the application, the University has been recognised and allowed to furnish details of achievements and records. The data provided would be processed under different parameters and assessed.

When asked about the Indian ranking of the University, he said that there was no proper mechanism for ranking universities in India. The University proposed massive expansion under two separate heads totally worth over 1,600 crore under the XIIth Plan. It planned to double student strength to 12,000 and enhance faculty by 444.
